The tiny house trailer is here!

When we began the journey towards building our tiny house, we began with a lot of assumptions. Like most people, we relied on current TV shows and blogs as the place to get our information from. As it turns out, a lot of that information was very outdated. Probably one of the biggest mistakes we made during this process was living with the idea that we could just build our tiny house on the trailer of a gutted RV. I mean, sure it has happened before, but that doesn’t mean it was a good idea! I recently read a story in a tiny house group about a guy who built his tiny on an old trailer, and his tiny house literally bent the thing in half. Big Announcement About Our Tiny House

Big Announcement About Our Tiny House I receive daily messages asking for updates on the tiny house project. They range everywhere from general curiosity all the way up to people wanting to know when the design plans will be posted so they can build their own. We are deciding which clothing, toys, or keepsakes we want to keep, and transferring family photos to digital. I think the scariest part of this process is realizing that we will still have to dump half the stuff we think will…

Our 10 year old just became skeptical about tiny houses.

Our biggest advocate about moving into the tiny house has been our oldest daughter Kira. Every morning, she wakes up and asks to check the crowdfunding site to see how many books have been sold. She has produced us with concept designs for interior and exterior layouts. There was even that time she attempted to bribe the tooth fairy for funding. However, this week, things took a turn into skeptical-ville. One of the major themes in the comments that people have left us have been threats of how difficult life will be once our children are teenagers. Well, Kira is definitely knocking on the front door of teenagerhood, and with that comes dramatic highs and lows of emotion. Today, while driving home from an event, she posed a bizarre question: “Will my room have a ‘real’ bed in it?” Being a really stupid dad, I walked right into that with my defenses down, not yet fully equipped with the jaded armor…
